XRP Ledger

XRP · Account-based ledger

A ledger-based network where validators agree on each new validated state.

One minute, side by side

How many records each network typically produces in sixty seconds. Select a network to open its profile.

6× speed

Typical intervals (XRP Ledger at ~4 s, the middle of its 3–5 s range), replayed at 6× speed. An illustration, not live network data.

How it operates

XRP Ledger groups transactions into a sequence of ledger versions. Each validated ledger records a shared, agreed state, including account balances, objects and transaction results.

Confirmation & settlement

A ledger becomes validated when the network reaches consensus; this is different from accumulating proof-of-work confirmations.

Different networks, different rules

Every protocol has its own approach to ordering transactions and defining settlement.

Consensus

Validators or miners determine which data becomes part of the agreed chain or ledger.

Read the data

Common concepts you encounter while exploring blockchain records.

A canonical unit containing transactions or the resulting accepted state, depending on protocol.

On Ethereum, look forBlock number

On Bitcoin, look forBlock height

An identifier derived from transaction data that can be used to find a record.

The amount charged for processing, computation or block space; calculation differs by protocol.
